All In a Day

Shower about 7.30,
And breakfast is eaten by 8,
Arrive at the office 8.30,
He’s never been known to be late.
Meetings from 9 to 11,
Quick coffee then start them again,
Quick glance through the window at weather,
It looks like it’s started to rain.
More meetings and then it’s 1230,
So outside to the shop down the street,
To get him his Americano,
And sandwich, ten minutes to eat.
At 1 meetings resuming promptly,
This time it is one that he chairs,
So all his team reporting in now,
As each one with him report shares.
More meetings then 530 comes round,
He has to leave now on the dot,
To get to the childcare at 6 then,
Cos other commitments he’s got.
The kids picked up, trip to mcdonalds,
They’re happy it means there’s no fight,
But he has to get home before 7,
Cos he’s got a meeting tonight.
Quick change into comfy attire,
He’s a governor of his kids’ school,
So off to the governors’ meeting,
Then quick swim in the local pool.
At 10 he is meeting his buddy,
To have a quick catch up and drink,
And home by eleven, some telly,
He’s not even had time to think.
At 12 to his bed with his partner,
As they brush all the remnants away,
It feels like he’s done a month’s business,
And all in the course of a day!
