All God's Creatures
So many creatures
that God did make -
some live in the mountains,
some swim in the lake.
Many are large,
many are small,
many are short,
and many are tall.
They all have a purpose -
this I know and trust -
kindness to all of them
from us is a must.
The giraffes eat from
up top the trees -
it must be amazing
all they can see.
The lion is the king,
with a ferocious roar -
the eagle is majestic
as above us it does soar.
Dogs and cats
give us loyalty and love -
their dedication and companionship
could only come from above.
Snakes move silently -
they slither on the ground -
they sneak up on their prey
without a single sound.
Dolphins swim playfully
in the deep blue sea -
they are just as smart
as you and me.
Insects and rodents
are everywhere a man looks -
On them alone
could be written a million books.
I could go on and on
for many, many pages -
the point I want to make
must be applied to people of all ages.
We owe it to all of God’s other creatures
to live in harmony and peace -
the senseless cruelty and outright neglect
must right now simply cease.
The world is plenty big enough
for them, you, and I -
we can all live together
if we are just willing to try.
