All apologies

I lied, never told you the truth— I never loved you, my beloved Ruth. Forgive me, if it's possible, for the things I did impossible. Cold blood, so bold, seeping through my veins. If I could hold you, and ease your pains. Though I'm not sane, and sound mostly insane, I can be the wisest— to hold you the tightest. I can't promise to fix what's broken inside, gloomy guilt and shame mix, picking up the pieces, sitting beside. Hoping for the best, for you—releasing the rest. Go, live your life, be somebody else's wife. You deserve someone who would give the world to you. Forgive me, I couldn't be the one to see the love, the proof, the truth in your eyes, my lovely Ruth.

Emotively rendered I sit in the splendor of the feel your poem rendered. I think I could read all your poems, happily spend time with them but it's late. Again, you've got a natural muse that was surely born with you ... CayCay

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." DearAnne, Wow, your poem is incredibly powerful. The raw emotion and vulnerability captured in "All apologies" hit me right in the heart. It’s such a great exploration of love, regret, and the complexities of relationships. I can feel the weight of those words, especially in the way you address the tension between honesty and the pain of unrequited feelings. Loved It! Spring Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

You may be 19 but your soul is much older. I had no poetry confidence for decades, hid my writes since adolescence so I appreciate that you were scared to share your soul, of not being validated. Surely, your confidence on Soup is now quite healthy. CayCay

Dear Daniel, Thank you so much for your heartfelt and thoughtful review of my poem, "All apologies." I'm deeply touched by your kind praise. As a 19 year old poet, I was so scared to share my work with the world. Thank you again for your encouragement and support. Happy spring! Warm regards, Anne
