Alarm Clock Depression

Its the dreaded sound you hear 5 times a week.
Just a few more minutes is all I seek.
9 minutes later you hear, beep..beep..beep,
will I ever get enough sleep?

If I stay in bed, all I'll miss is class,
I can make up an excuse, to make sure I pass.
Its the 30 seconds you lay there, deciding: productive or lazy?
If I lay here any longer, I may go crazy.

Sadly enough I choose lazy about half the time,
I am only missing class, its not exactly a crime.
It makes me feel bad that I am missing my goal,
because everyday, I am digging myself a deeper hole.

I would love to be a better person and go,
everyone is getting mad at me I know.
But I just lay here all day long with this blank expression,
I don't know why, so I'll ask you, is this depression?

Hi Chris, I love your poem. I've def been on this side of the alam clock blues before. The fact that you are aware and feel bad about your choices says you can make a change. Depression can def rear its ugly little head in this way. Thank goodness you have a poetic outlet to share your feelings. Lay
