Airport Bustle

Where can all these people be going?
Thousands in this one huge terminal
Scurrying along like ants in single file
Growing impatient with any distraction
A last minute gate change or delay
Brings no holiday traveler satisfaction
One must look closely for the rare smile
Long lines waiting for next vacant urinal
In a full Airbus or Seattle's 737 Boeing.

After the hustle and bustle of getting ready and travelling, I really feel in need of a holiday. Hope you enjoyed your break Milt...Delice

It takes me a while to get back into the rhythm of my life here at home, but getting away is also essential to creativity, I think. Thanks, Delice.

"One must look closely for the rare smile" This made me think immediately of airports I have been in - accurately penned.

Everyone is so intense...hustling along...fearful of missing their connection...airports are not what they used to be.

I found a motif threading its way through this poem, Milt. Ready? Here we go: Urinal, Smile (rare), Ants = USA! All the Way, baby... Welcome back, traveler. Smiles, Gershon

At your age, you must remember when people were too afraid of falling to fly anywhere, yet today we leave behind space junk pollution. Progress? Enjoy your own sheets! Aloha!

Thanks, Rico. Indeed, I do remember when passenger flying was something very, very special. I remember when everyone dressed up to fly anywhere. I recall when all "stewardesses" had to be registered nurses first. And lots more...

Thanks, Avery. It is so good to be home. I enjoyed my week in Puerto Vallarta, but there is no substitute for sleeping between your own sheets! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
