Notes About The Poem

AI Poetry

Though eminently computable,
born in silicon fog,
it's a baby that's not beautiful,
a disloyal, faithless dog.
It's a welcome to an empty room,
a monster's sightless eye,
a bottle of cheap perfume -
the poetry of AI.

I listen to a lot of traditional British folk music, and, long ago, I guess "babe" was slang for "baby". When I was a young man (quite some time ago), "babe" was slang for a beautiful, sexy lady. I forget that other people might not be living in the sixteenth century, so I will probably change the word to "baby"!

My thought for that first line "a babe that is not beautiful" is that a baby is always beautiful, so one that is not, somethings got to be wrong - what? and a dog is always faithful. If not - what's wrong?

Hi Ink, glad you appreciated it. Here's a confession. This line popped into my head, "A babe that is not beautiful", then "a dog that has no faith". Then I built a poem around it.

I really like that comparison to 'a bottle of cheap perfume!' ~ Rip L. Wein

Thanks, Gershon! Haha, yep, a bottle of cheap wine could be a cheap perfume!
