Agony & Ecstasy

Pain racking my body
Morning, noon and night
Physical ailments increase over time
Leaving, sensing no end in sight

One day back will hurt
Leaving me hunched over in pain
Next day head aches
Making me hold tight, feeling insane

When will the end come?
Or shall I say, no more?
I know the end’s not near
Because I’ve only just opened the door

Door is only at a crack
Not fully swung wide open
Things have just begun to appear
Each new day brings for more hopin’

Hoping for the days to go fast
All memories will flood through
Give me the strength to walk through it all
Show me O Lord what I must do

One day it all will be done
All demons laid to rest
I’ll live at my potential
Here to do what God sees best

Right now I ask for His help
Help me see the light
Release me from this misery
O Lord, my God, show me by sight

Sight of Your face each day
I’m sitting in my fear
Not wanting to feel the pain
Memories, feelings or shed a tear

Joy comes in the morning
When the nights have been long
One day I’ll walk by Your side
Right now I’m here where I belong

Wow Teresa, what illness do you have? This is a real powerful poem. Beautiful. I'm not so sure how severe your case is whether it's depression, or a real illness but hang on. Don't lose hope. I know how you feel, I have a stomach ailment, not pleasant. Thats why I wrote a couple gloomy poems. It's good to get that sadness and anger out. God be with you!
