Aging Right Is a Long Hard Fight
Through countless miles we walk alone
from cradle down to dust,
with friends and loved ones near and far
to honor, love and trust.
Step by step we trod this world
North, south, east and west,
Searching for our one true self,
To feel whole, complete and deep-ly blessed.
Struggles are a daily dose
Of dealing with this earth,
And all the blood, sweat and tears this life demands
To carve out our own true worth.
While time takes its toll upon the old
Watching youth eroding by;
Damn the wrinkles, damn the pain
And the rivers of tears we’ve cried!
Damn the love we lost back when
And the races we once won;
Damn the mountains we once climbed
To touch the morning sun!
Aging right is a long hard fight
Each soul must go alone;
Each breath we take, success, mistakes
In the end will take us home.
