Aging
"Aging is a shadow that walks with us. It blotches the portrait.”
-Thompson Emate
As we go on each day's sojourn,
Held in hand by time,
Sailing through seasons and clime,
We're eroded like a weathered rock.
Each door we open to the morning light,
Each door we close to the evening shadow
We stealthy fall apart like a shrivelled meadow,
Our souls someday take flight.
Time changes our portrait,
Sombre colours infiltrate,
We're brought down the gallery's wall,
Taken away from its lighted hall.
We reflect and go down yesterday's lane,
Pondering on our sojourn through the rain,
We're changed by the elements of nature,
Taken to the beyond in our feeble stature.
