Against the grain
I go against the grain, this is the journey I’m in
I waited for reality… until I dreamed.
You’re now a memory, I bought you a cake,
I got lost in the past, and from there, I escaped.
I walked aimlessly, just for the faith
That through all the smoke, I’d see you again.
I kept your words, then tore them apart,
Today I embrace the wind, no longer your yesterday.
How many times I searched for your glance in the shadows,
Ignoring me… made me stronger,
It forced me to hide.
It was my fault, my strength broken,
Power is nothing without desire
Until I found the speed to feel okay.
I caught your gestures, your ways, your stride,
But the glow faded, it no longer knows how to shine.
And your smile… it begins to drown me,
Like a memory that refuses to let go.
I walked aimlessly, just for the faith
That through all the smoke, I’d see you again.
I kept your words, then tore them apart,
Today I embrace the wind, no longer your yesterday.
