Again Last Night

Again Last Night

I told myself I'd be okay
I thought I'd be alright.
Then somewhere in my slumber
I cried again last night.

It must have started in a dream
while I was fast asleep.
Somehow in my mind I heard
my soul begin to weep.

I thought this cannot happen
there must be some mistake.
My heart was not quite mended
how could again it break?

Slowly in the darkness
I began to rise.
To the sound of my heart crying
and teardrops in my eyes.

I held your pillow close to me
and I called out your name.
God knows since you loved me
I'll never be the same.

I told myself I'd be okay
I thought I'd be alright.
Then somewhere in my slumber
I cried again last night.
