After the Slap

Everybody’s seen it
And discussed it to no end,
Wondering what repercussions
It may yet portend.

But to have a welcome chuckle,
Go check out James Corden’s song.
If will guarantee a grin and likely,
You will sing along.

For the writer took the Bruno tune,
Which most of us now know,
And just substituted Jada,
Making it so apropos.

How it blows my mind when talent
Takes an item in the news
And creates a little magic,
Well-deserving of our views.

Hmmm you made me curious to check that out. I wonder if they will take Wills Oscar away. I did not want him for best actor anyway!

I had to go check out the James Corden video at your recommendation, and you were right... very funny and mind-blowing in how quickly they were able to create this social commentary song and sketch.

Great poetry, ilene, nothing surprises me anymore, especially regarding hollywood and all of tinsel land. So glad though the poetry comes through. Love it

Well, let's see: I know it was Oscar night the other night. I saw that in WSJ. As for the 'Slap,' I saw that in WSJ too. As for 'James Corden,' 'Bruno,' and 'Jada,' I have to plead ignorance. Two out of five is pretty good though for someone who hasn't watched TV since 1978. "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? But if I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?" ~ Hillel (Ethics of the Fathers).

I've not seen it but heard all about it, wonder if it was set up, got lots of publicity from it anyway and of course an epic Ilene Bauer poem too!:-) hugs Jan xx

I saw it, Ilene. Frankly, I think Smith did it to get attention and publicity. After all, he laughed at the joke, and it was half a minute before he reacted. In any case, he'll be mentioned in every Oscar show forever! One way to make entertainment history! AND, I've wanted to slap Rock a few times, too!
