After the Cruise

Say goodbye to all that food And plugs for each promotion, Though you'll miss the balcony And gazing at the ocean. Bid farewell to fawning staff And pulsing entertainment, Whirlpools that you never touched, The spa for stress containment. Wave adieu to high-priced shops, The neon-bright casino, People traipsing 'round in robes, The endless pours of vino. Soon enough, you'll be back home, The empty fridge a'waiting. Will you welcome normal life? To me, there's no debating.

My Mom would always say as we got back in our hometown. Oh it's always so good to get back home. <3 But, I have always wanted to go on a cruise.

You have made it sound like a wonderful time, but there is an undercurrent of longing for home. A great write. "fawning staff" made me smile, for I have heard that this is what happens.

Sounds like you had a grand time, Ilene but home always looks good! Vera and I took an Alaskan cruise in 2007 with a group of Retired Air Force people - great time! I enjoyed the poems you wrote on the trip about the trip - Bob H

.. there's no place like home!!! Our friend went on a 3 month round the world cruise and got bored with the same routine and one stop over blended into the next. Hope you had an awesome time I've thoroughly enjoyed your poems about your latest holiday:-) hugs Jan xx
