AFRICA IS MORE THAN WHAT THEY SAY

Unlike the headlines in their tabloids
This land was not a den of thieves
Not orphans begging at their gates
Nor lazy minds with rolled-up sleeves

It’s home to those with skin like night
But hearts that shine like gold
Its people brave and its stories bold
Their wisdom deep and their spirit bright

It holds a culture vast and admirable
A place where peace once flourished
A land of wealth and a land of pride
A fire that never needed rekindling.

Until become a victim of circumstance
A fray for their wild games
A lab to test their theories.
Africa is more than what they say
