Afraid of a Mouse Streak

I am not afraid of mice but I have a horrible fear of seeing the streak of one inside my house. I watched one eating cat food the other day and felt an affinity for him, or her, whatever it was until it ran; the streak of a mouse turns my blood to ice. You are not afraid of mice, my husband observed. You are afraid of seeing the streak of a running mouse. This is accurate. I think it is the unexpected startled aspect that bothers me. Though I doubt I'd like to wake up with one snoring next to me.

ha, I am trying to imagine how they would sound snoring! My dog is snoring a lot these days. I think he is getting really old fast! I enjoyed your poem, Caren. The streak is what scares me too.

Good flaming god I hate mice and rats to Beelzebub's. I am sure I shall be struck down tenfold by the wrath of the almighty for stating this simple fact....they may be god's creatures, but they smell to high heavens and when you've lived through a plague and they have riddled themselves through your delicate drawers, scratched at the matress of your bed and rats were observed to be held wet and dead in the hands of a shocked hero...who blanched...if I had a gun I wouldn't hesitate.

they have beady eyes, sharp teeth, claws and attitude and when that is combined with rodent plague in broad daylight and scraping of claw on bed base at night...if napalm was available, I would not hesitate to pull the trigger...
