Afflicted On Every Side

Such feelings of afflictions inside so tense tired inside in a knot all over in every bone so stiff it just seems it falls at first shot Words were just so difficult to make the throat seemed so hoarse and tight one learns to get by with few words even although I need to really fight Every day waking up to a struggle now all these 65 years fighting on seeking help in therapy once again looking to meet some new dawn At times it feels so warm to sweat tiring me out struggling to find breath hoping for the day words will flow time moves on each day nearer death As you, the reader will realise by now my affliction is my stammer my chain but thankfully I receive strength from above to fight on no matter what inward pain!

Well, you certainly have strength from above. This is a beautiful poem that is a testimony to God's faithfullness to give you courage and strength in the face of affliction! Great work brother! One day none of us will be afflicted with anything. Here's hoping it's soon!

Thanks for your kind thoughts Jenny, yes things are slowly getting better since started going for fortnightly speech therapy visits, the slide downwards has ceased and it's slowly on the way up since doing various daily exercises it's improving. But still a long way to go as these therapies take time as I know from past experience. Have a blessed weekend, keep safe always, Gordon

Gordon your poignant verse brought tears to my eyes, for your life long struggle with words. I cannot imagine how exhausting and frustrating it must be each day. But the words you write in your glorious poetry these can be seen and heard, so draw comfort from that dear Gordon. With kindest thoughts Ann xx I hope spring is on it's way to Scotland...

Thanks Ann, glad you were impressed with it. Also for your kind and thoughtful words, very appreciative I am. Actually it's rather nice as we're away for short break in lake district and been lovely and sunny. Blessings always, thanks again for comforting sentiments, Gordon

Gordon, From all your poems, I can tell that you are a kind wonderful human being and God has recognized this long ago - we are all given a cross to bear sometimes, because like Lot, he tests his faithful - and you are a disciple who we should all follow by example - poetry hugs Jennifer. PS Hope you feel better very soon. xxx
