Advice For Young Parents
Enjoy your children while they are still small
for when kids grow up, they tend to get tall
and will no longer be able to snuggle up on your lap
or won't need to be rocked for an afternoon nap
They won't want you to read them a story time book
No more counting the toes on their cute, chubby foot
or watching them pretend, engrossed in dress-up play
be it a cowboy or bride, their imagination on display
NOW is the time to cradle them in your arms
and to savor and cherish all their baby charms
To play games of Patty-Cake and Peek-a-boo
while their entire world still revolves around you
True, there will be days when you long for some down time
You'll feel tired and frazzled, but please keep in mind
your small ones will grow up, oh, so very, very fast
Before you know it, their childhood will be a thing of the past
Yes, you'll thank the Lord they grew up healthy and tall
But you'll sometimes wish they were still rather small
Take my advice and enjoy them now, while you can
for your children will never be children again
