Advice For the Youth
My advice to the youth, if some would like to know.
Learn patience, respect and timing if you seek to grow.
Don’t take it all so personal, allow for things to pass
Choose your fight and really think before you all amass
And when you do, lock arms and speak
to what it is that your hearts would seek
Martin Luther King, our long lost brother
Fought hard for freedom, with good people, all shoulder to shoulder
Cause what you do in this life can really make a difference
Maybe not to the world but those close around, to show compassion and temperance
Put down your phone, look up and listen
To the natural flow of the wind and sky, the beauty of the light to glisten
Be one with your earth and find your inner peace
Then give back to others, for love within to increase
We can learn greatly from those who came before us
See the beauty in their wisdom and experience, they love to discuss
The places they’ve been, the things they’ve seen and heard
Both harsh and calm, mixed together like the elegance of a flying bird
And so I say to the next generation
We’re all in this together, so let’s lay a good foundation
