Adulthood

Anxious he really was
Of age to be
Of liberties to take
Little did he know what it would take

So now he sees
For now he is
It’s just a struggle to live better
It’s just a struggle to die better

Sunrise after sunrise
Days on end
For himself he lives
For others he struggles

Now he wishes
In teenage he would’ve stayed
For then into trouble he freely ran
Now earnestly into him the troubles freely ran

He feels cheated out of life
For he finds no glory in endless struggle
He struggles to be happy
Happiness struggles to evade him

How he wishes for the days he dreamt
For today’s worries of tomorrow torment him
How he wishes he could turn back the time
Of childhood’s specialties he would never relent

Wiseton, the early influences a child receives are very important. People just shrug it off when a child steals candy, but that child may grow up to be a thief. We can't turn back time, but we can try to instill good values in our youth. A powerful, thought-provoking poem! Love, Carolyn

This poem touches me so much. Everyone can relate to this. In today's world, lots of teenagers grew up so fast and thinking adult world has so much to offer, but there is a hidden truth, they should enjoy every second being a teenager. We all keeps youthful memories and most times those are the ones that bring a smile on our faces. I really enjoy writing. Please to meet you and thanks for your comment.

At times in most peoples' lives there is a longing to relive something in their lives to improve on mistakes made..Enjoyed reading your thoughts on the idea...Your presence at my work was uplifting..I noticed that you put some thought in the short amount that I had written..I have finished it now and I elobrated on the title a little to "New Life Gives Hope"..It is about our daughter's just born step grandson..In a way now I am a great grandmother..Sara
