Adoption Papers

ADOPTION PAPERS I saw adoption papers in someone’s house one day, And it was quite intriguing what all they had to say. The child’s name was printed as plainly as could be, His height and weight and gender were there for me to see. The surname of his parents who took him to their home Was printed on the papers by which he would be known. The place that he was born in, the town from where he came, But nothing in the records of his natural parents’ name. I searched through all the pages for anything they had About his family origin, his mother, or his dad. There were no names of others upon the papers there; Just names of those who took him to love and give him care. It all was signed and legal: his mom and dad would be The ones who went to bring him into their family. Reflecting on those papers, I thought about the day When as a poor, lost sinner I bowed my head to pray. There I became adopted in God’s great family, And He became my Father for all eternity. My name was clearly written in His book there that day, And all my former records He forever took away. He did all that was needed to make me then His heir, He sealed the transaction and placed me in His care. I have adoption papers much like those ones that day Because I trusted Jesus to take my past away!
