Adopted Children

Like stray or beaten animals Children come to my door They are starving for attention Parents love them no more I have taken them in One by one Talked through the evenings Into the morning sun I'm honest in my past Drugs and alcohol are no excuse Be it from the children or the parents It is still a form of abuse Most just need attention Someone to guide them through My reputation spread fast My house is a constant zoo. Moving in, moving out, Phone calls at all hours They simply need someone When sun turns to showers Be it a boy or girl Ten or twenty-three We are one huge success In being a happy family I've lost count Over the many years But the calls to say "I love you" Always brings me tears My door is always open No child is turned away Love fills this house Each and every day For my own child If alive, would be fourteen I give your love to all the others It will carry to their offspring Wait for me my child I have more work to do Remember always I do this because of you
