Adjusting To the Silence

To accept and absorb the grief
Of something that only you complete
That soft touch that element of care
My soul longs for your touch
The way you saw and made me see
Adjusting to the ache of silence
Pushing through the storm and the rain.

The quiet before the storm
That embrace to quieten my beating heart
The things we share become a part of us.
You were soft beautiful and bright
You were my guiding star on a moonless night
I will survive and endure and fall to my knees
Adjusting to the silence only if I could see you
once more.

I toss and turn in my dreams
like the wind that tosses a flame,
I will cover the light with my two hands
so that you can burn bright and walk in light
Till I stumble into your embrace
To quieten my beating heart
Adjusting to the silence
like a leaf falling with the breeze
To ease the pain of raindrops falling on ears
with sounds of heartbeats.
