Adieu

This year is winding down to its end. Christmas is but two weeks away. How quickly do the seasons come and go . . . come and go - flowing through our world like flurries of winter’s new- fallen snow. But like snow, which always unfailingly melts away, so too do our memories fade as seasons become decades melting into the centuries. This year soon shall pass; bid it Adieu. I really like this double nonet of yours about the ending of the year and memories fading away, using the image of snow melting away. Reading poems like this make me a little sad that we never get snow for Christmas here.

Yes, for most people our memories do fade and I think it is worse with women than men sad to say. Congrats on your winner. Sara

I find this strikingly haunting -- and to think that you penned it in nonet form. Hats off to your creativity and ingenuity, Andrea! Peace on Earth, Gershon

The day, months years and decades run into centuries which we read about and perhaps your grandchildren will read about COVID in their History (I was going to say books, how silly), computers, new cyber tech teaching object or robots, or whatever, we will all be long gone, sad to think what we do in a lifetime, dies in the miss of a single heartbeat. H&B in my last poem meant Hugs and Blessings, run out of characters remaining. Jennifer.

We usually look forward to the foray of Christmas but to all of us we look to 2021 hoping the year will bring back our cheer. Still it’s Christmas and we must look to our great hope. This was a beautiful nonet!

Andrea, The word Adieu always embodied a parting of something that was good. Nonet's were always a favorite of mine for those with 'the chops'. Will the New Year bring us closer to another truth..? Answer always will be yes..though we may not like it for the learning. Best Wishes for the season Andrea. -Richard
