Addiction

To love somebody the way I loved you

Something died just the other day
I cannot explain it but in this way
My heart was alive but then it could not say
How I felt anymore but just words all dressed in grey
An emotion so hurtful my stomach wretched then a knot did stay
Every time I thought of you the tighter it turned so painful I had to get away
I put needle to skin and my mind flew to a garden of beautiful flowers in sunshine May
All the feelings were still there but at the back of my mind I let them play
I stole for a living to keep me in this state of denial of anything could be wrong today
Then I realised this was killing me softly just as the thoughts to my dismay
I tried to confront them but confounded I was trapped in my mind poisoned in disarray
All I could think of was to end my life for no other options came were my mind state lay
Twenty years on and I’m still on the run but now I have my sweet Rosemary to fend the demons at bay.
