Notes About The Poem

Acrostic

A forest path does wind,
All shrubs with love entwined
Atop trees, monkeys live,
Another deathly strive
Abhorrent humans lie,
And trees, grass, shrubs will sigh
As oxygen will die

Unfortunately misread the rules for this contest, so I am withdrawing

I really like this technique - all lines begin with the same letter. I have seen it more than once, but it is striking in this particular instance. Is there a certain name for this? Thanks.

Caren, I studied this style of poetry hectically and yet I still withdrew myself from the contest because I didn't read the rules well, I was meant to describe how verse is meant to be written, not a poem in verse. So I don't want to give you the wrong information, I think Jan could explain it well to you. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Hi Jan, it is sad that such a beautiful planet is being neglected and ruined by the greedy and selfish. Thank-you Jan for a wonderful comment. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Dearest Jennifer, your precious poetic pen spills a sad truth.. Nature’s wrath will intensify as we continue to pillage and plunder Her at will. My heart aches for us, the state of the world and for all of its life forms. Your poem is deeply thought provoking and beautiful, my inspiring poetry friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Susan your comments are so refined and apt, just like your poems are. These poor animals and tribal people are being forced out of their habitat, and animals become scavengers kill to eat, even humans, and tribes have to resort to begging, a menial job or a job which involves criminal activity in order to feed their family - how long will Mother Earth last with all that is going on in this crazy world at present? Thank-you Susan, God bless. love Jennifer.

Hello Jennifer … this covid virus should be a real lesson to humanity about fighting an enemy that destroys. Mother Nature is a friend but we’re quickly turning her into an enemy - thank you Jennifer - Lindsay

Thank-you Lindsay, love your comment, so true, but just as no masks are worn because Trump says so, so too does humanity ignore basic sociology rules, and go against what is good for us all. Thank you Lindsay, a wonderful comment! Jennifer

Brilliant write my friend. Sigh, we do not treat mother nature the way she deserves. We are like cruel tyrants to her. We will only understand, once she unleashed her wrath upon us. Beautiful poem. I like the way you write about social problems, climate change, global warming etc. One of my fav poets. More power to your pem Jennifer.

Thank-you Harry, but I really messed up with this contest as I didn't read the rules carefully - my Acrostic is correct and thank-you for a lovely comment but we were meant to describe how to write and explain the form only. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.
