Absent Friends
Absent Friends
Time it has passed and the years have gone by
We all lived our lives, our best we have tried.
In success and in failure we were all once together
We always thought it would all last forever.
To those we have lost we offer these lines
To wonderful memories, wonderful times
We shall not forget the times that we shared
The richness you brought us, the way that you cared
In our thoughts you remain, dear memories clung to
You are all part of us and we part of you
We grew up together, we shall not forget
Your friendship we treasured, fond feelings are kept
There is no one of us who without you could have been
Were it not for the fact that you were our friends
You did in some way make us who we became
Because had we not met you, we would not be the same
So as you look down from your place up on high
Laugh with us please and share the good times
Hold a space open for us, very near you we pray
Let’s celebrate a full class reunion in Heaven someday.
Dear absent friends, to you we pay homage
No tears will we shed, secure in the knowledge
That you would not want us to feel sad or feel blue
But to all stand together, like you were here with us too
For without our friends, none of us can feel whole
Without first being sure your stories are told
We honor you friends and know you are with us
Remember we will, remember we must!
