Abandoned Love

Once not to long ago
there was someone who loved you so

their heart thumped at the thought you
and your sights would pierce them through

you loved someone who loved another
but ignored the one who loved you like no other

after the years of disappointment
broken vows and wedding engagements

you think back on that certain someone
wondering if their feelings for you have been undone

it is but funny to think that what you needed
is what you avoided

the simple kindess and love returned
forever in your heart churned
