A World of Smiling Denial
In a world of smiling denial
You live with a pretense of joy
And plaster on a false grin
Like a mask forced upon a porcelain child.
Life is a case of masks and mirrors.
You cover up grief,
Layer by layer,
Until, at last,
You can peek into the looking glass.
Life is a war against masks and mirrors.
The time comes
When one can’t peel off the life
You fought to believe.
When you loose the battle
To get past the pretty glass.
