Notes About The Poem

Author's Notes: This poem, "A Winter's Night," is written as a "Triolet" which is a French verse form. The rhyme scheme for this Triolet is: ABaAabAB. All verses of this Triolet are set in Iambic Tetrameter. This particular poem highlights the elemental beauty one might see on a winter's night as the frozen air brings fresh fallen snow, and the snow's very luster on this dark night reflects even God's true starlight. As with the earlier Triolet I posted today, "Our Winter Love," I believe you will also find the magical words of this Triolet, and the message of wondrous beauty it presents to the reader well-worth your time to read and reflect on. This winter’s night is cold and bright;
frozen air brings fresh fallen snow.
It reflects now God’s true starlight!
This winter’s night is cold and bright;
a brilliant scene, this dark cold night!
Mother Nature smiles, now aglow!

frozen air brings fresh fallen snow.

Hi D!! Thanks for your super comments and the 7 + FAV. I'm very pleased you liked my second Triolet here. (With this one, I'm at greater ease with the format.) Eventually I will try a Rondelet, Rondeau, and others as I can work them in. There are so many forms yet to do!! (I'm constantly learning new things about poetic verse everyday -- as I think most of us are!!) I made a verse modification today (for the better) to my first Triolet: "Our Winter Love." Spill Ink!!
