A Winter Day
I wake to see
A sea of white
Laid upon us during the
Night
Heavily bearing weight
On the limbs
Brisk are the winter winds
Dancing flakes on window the trims
A wonderland to delight our eyes
It’s snowman building in children’s eyes
Noisy snow blowers in
The neighborhood
Shovels scrapping
Ice hanging off the dogwood
And those cumbersome coats and boots
And getting kids into their snowsuits
Rosy cheeks
And runny noses
Frozen hands and cold toes
And in the evening light
Illumination seem very bright
So hang those mittens
By the fire and
Off to bed
Its time to retire
