A Winter Canvas
Staring at white canvas on a chilly winters day
Sketching from memory he draws without delay
Brush strokes swift, he paints with expert hands
The artist portraying now a winter wonderland.
Undressed trees in different shapes and heights
Patched up with shining blobs of whites
Pines trees standing in white satin
Like cutouts from a giant paper pattern.
Snowflakes like tiny dancers moving to and fro
Dancing to a silent tune to the ground below
A carpet rolled out in fluffy soft white
Sparkling tiny diamonds caught with the light.
The beauty lies in hues of white and grey
His palette on the darker side a stroke of ray
Colour coming from a pit dug out in the snow
A group of people feel the warmth huddling in the glow.
