A Wedgie In Her Drawers

The protests are written from the busy pen
of the one whose thoughts are quite driven
yet she cries "foul" like a rumple feathered hen
when the thoughts of another are simply given

Her name-calling ploy is such a childish game
for each one of us has the right to our opinion
without castigation and a finger pointing blame
I'm not a vengeful person, nor a poet's minion

I don't seek attention as a clown or a witch
I've not slandered anyone with my remarks
My fastballs are always thrown as a legal pitch
I'm vaccinated so I don't fear mad dog barks

Social equality is as much mine as it is yours
I've the right to write or speak what I feel
without giving a wedgie to someone's drawers
I'm not vicious like you called me in your spiel

You want to dwell in sorrow for the human race
but I have hope for mankind and will not brood
Our differences will never allow for an embrace
but only one of us illustrates the right attitude

Hi Jenna, I don't know what was said or who said it but I liked your well scripted reply. Some people are truly not very open to other ways of thinking and I am deeply sorry that this happened to you here on what is generally a very supportive site.

Jenna, you have hit the nail on the head here. We have a woman on Poetry Soup who is being very mean and nasty to anyone she takes a disliking to. I've been a victim myself for several months, and it has caused me a lot of stress. There is simply no excuse for the name-calling and rude behavior on her part, and I am glad you have called it out.

The rules are clear: Only positive comments. I don't entirely agree with this. When I studied literary criticism it was always point the good, correct the bad and end with a good comment. Here you have to repeat the oft used phrase: Great poetry. I would ignore such people who can't take criticism. You're a fine poet. Hugs.

I didn't criticize anyone. I merely stated my opinion, but since it differed from hers, she deleted it, reported me to admin, then ranted, calling me names in a poem. That's the epitome of ridiculous.

God help me I do love a spirited discussion. Isn’t it funny how some people are so self righteous and hypocritical. Remember to keep your elbows up! Nice form

IMHO, there is no place for "mean-spirited" and vindictive people filled with hatred at Poetry Soup. Period!

Elbows up. Ok. A spirited discussion would be fine, but a mean-spirited person is disgraceful. Nice to see you, Mark.

You're still here Jenna so it can't have been that bad. The way I see it there's only one way to settle this, handbags at dawn lol. Tom

Consider the source, Milt. Her code of ethics is as warped as her thinking.

She definitely is, Jenna. I have caught the brunt of her vitriol and meanness!

LOL Tom. She did throw down the gauntlet, but I'll have to fill mine with lead for a fair fight. She seems much nastier than I could ever be.

oh dear Jenna, I am sorry you have had need for writing this poem, but whatever was said/ or happened it must have upset you greatly to warrant this poem, got to say the line about being vaccinated sure made me smile as that can be a 'bone' of contention with many anti vaxxers lol. Maybe you keep away from this person in future:-( hugs jan xx

Hi Jan. I wasn't upset, but I was disgruntled to find that my comment was taken as a vicious attack on a poet's poem when all I did was state my opinion just as she did. Certainly unwarranted for the names she called me and reporting my comments to admin. Que sera sera. This is one time when I will say as you often do...I feel pity for a person who states an opinion and then chastises another for doing the same. Frankly, I find it hypocritical.
