A Way To Go

Could you show me the way to go My flesh is willing, but my legs are slow I cannot read the traffic lights I use a walker so that I might Walk upright and steady, But that doesn't stop the traffic lights from changing, Before I am ready. Red, Amber, Green, GO, GO. Oh dear, my legs are slow. Get real, old duck, try to move faster, Faster, Faster, before disaster It comes in the shape of the car That did not notice your struggle from afar. He was driving without care, And did not see you there Standing in the middle of the road, Not knowing which way to go.

Enjoyed reading this one today. I am glad that I am not in a position to have to cross streets very often, but I feel for those that do. Sara

Thank you, Sara. I use a walker and dislike crossing the road as I am not as fast as I used to be in mind and body. I hope you are having a pleasant day. Take care. Shirley.

Shirley your poem made me feel a lot of different emotions. I felt sad for the struggles of being slow due to old age, protective wanting to help you and it also made me laugh with the “get real old duck” line….so I thoroughly enjoyed it! Debx
