A Warriors Tale

The war rages on and no relief from it can be found,
Shells exploding and men screaming from the madness of it all are the only sounds.

And the knowledge of knowing as long as you still draw a breath you have a chance,
You pray that what you are fighting for is right, for this is where you’ve drawn your line
made your last stance.

As you look around at the dead and the wounded you realize life is a fragile thing,
And you swallow down the uncertainty of what today or tomorrow might bring.

There are no real victors only the ones left to tell the tale,
And as long as man keeps having differences we’ll continue living this nightmare and going
thru bloody hell.

At first you feared death but now its face is no stranger and you can gaze right back in
its eye,
Cause you’ve already made your peace and said all your last and final good-byes.

No matter the outcome you have prepared for it all,
Should this be my day, I’ll stand tall or fall at the feet of my Maker as He beckons me
home to His final call.

And they can cover me with glory and speak highly of my deeds,
I’ll only be there as a tale of a warrior who gave it all to herald someone else needs.
