A Wake-Up Call To Reality

As I wander the desolate paths of my hometown,
A storm of thoughts hits my mind,
The empty roads, and the empty houses,
Felt unusual, with some story behind,

I walked through my neighbourhood,
No one was to be found,
The air, the scent of the area,
Felt like a wandering blood hound,

With the shops closed, and streets empty,
I woke up to reality,
Not to misunderstand, not a dream,
But a wake-up call to sanity,

All we keep on repeating is,
We are surrounded by death,
But in that thought and that emotion,
We forget to live, and to catch that life-saving breath,

The earth is a fragile place,
And so are the people it provides for,
But that fragility is what makes us strong,
Gives a purpose to live for,

Every now and then,
We all have walked on that desolate blood bath,
Questioning our reality, or blaming it on god,
But never for a second grasping the reason for this wrath,

For some people,
These nightmares are in different forms,
Sensing their fears and trepidations,
Evolving to the lifestyle they conform.

There’s nothing much that can be done,
When it comes to waking up to a sweet reality,
All that can be done with a strong motive,
Is being your own wake-up call to sanity.
