A Villanelle of Loss

How long can I sit here?
With my head in my hands
Drenched in layers of my fear.

Stop thinking, my thoughts all smear
Like ocean water devouring the sands
How long can I sit here?

Urgent whispers within my ear
Speaking sorrow of the sacred lands
Drenched in layers of my fear.

I'm strong for long, but wait! There's a tear
The shattering of my dreamlands.
How long can I just sit here?

Those evil thoughts, they always sneer
When there is only one left who stands
Drenched in layers of my fear.

Here they come, they draw near!
With all of their cruel demands
How long can I just sit here
Drenched in layers of my fear?

Sam, I like this very much. I love repetition and I use it often in my writing. Nicely done!
