A Very Good Year

She was sixteen and he was between
Shaving or just letting them grow
She was so coy and he was a boy
Convinced that he must love her so

He tried it all that Summer and Fall
And he even shed her a tear
She weakened one night 'neath pale moonlight -
Sixteen was a very good year
