Notes About The Poem

A Trip To Pompeii

I won a holiday voucher; good luck had come my way So we put the money towards my bucket list holiday Ever since was small I’d dreamed of visiting Italy To view the Pompeii ruins a sight I wanted to see We flew off to stay in Sorrento at the Hotel Caravelle The hotel was so grand, our bedroom was really swell We booked to go to Pompeii on an organised tour A little minibus picked us up outside the hotel door It took us on a trip to the local railway station To meet our tour rep who’d fill us with information Pompeii was so amazing, on cobbled streets we’d tread visiting ruined houses, and seeing relics of the dead who’d perished when Mount Vesuvius tragically erupted bodies frozen in time when their lives were all disrupted A visit to Herculaneum was the highlight of our vacation I preferred it to Pompeii due to the state of preservation The well preserved remains exceeded all expectation I vow to I’ll return to Italy without any hesitation! We both want to repeat a bus trip along the Amalfi drive With the skill of our bus driver we made it home alive! This is certainly NOT fiction, Jan, since i know you had a lovely holiday in Italy. I can tell from these lines that you had a good time. This year we had to make do without our annual visit to Sicily...covid disrupted many of our plans. Hugs // paul

Glad you experienced these historic sights Jan. Pompeii must have been sad yet remarkable to be standing where this huge disaster took place. I would like to have a months holiday in Provincial France, - on my bucket list. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Forgive me Jan a mortal sin to confess, I was in Naples a few years ago and never visited Pompeii, we only had a few hours before the boat left, so just took in the harbor area and a city tour, I could’ve made it with a push, damn your poem has me on a guilt trip now, brilliant deserving winner, cheers David

Couldn't believe it when I saw the book with no page numbers, my daughter bought it off amazon and have sent them screenshots. Might be worth something like those stamps that have the queen's had upside down lol
