A Treasure In Heaven
A TREASURE IN HEAVEN
God gave me four great treasures here--
Two girls and two boys;
When each one came into the world
They brought me special joy.
I watched them grow there in our home
Out on the countryside,
Though we weren’t blessed with lots of wealth,
Strong love did there abide.
I prized each treasure God gave me
As in the yard they played;
I tried to teach them right from wrong,
Took pride when they obeyed.
They grew and three left from my house
To start their families,
Now just one treasure still is here,
Stays with his dad and me.
But one day heaven called below
For one to come on home;
I lost a treasure dear to me,
And I felt so alone.
I never felt such grief and loss
As I felt on that day
When he was taken from my arms
To God’s home far away.
But I know that treasure’s with the Lord,
Some day his face I’ll see;
He’ll shine like diamonds in my eyes
Throughout eternity.
I have three treasures yet on earth,
We too aren’t here to stay;
No, there’s a better place above
Where we’ll all go some day.
So though I’ve lost one treasure dear,
One that I truly loved,
I’m glad I know he is not lost--
He lives with God above.
