A Tower of Babble

opening scene
scenery at rest
maybe open
plains or

undisturbed
wilderness

then a tide seems
to ripple a rise as
is risen a little at
each time as

a calming breeze blows
clean white sheets on a
laundry line as the camera
shows horizontally what

are brief and subtle puffs
of something growing
beneath the pressed
to be released

slowly erecting

the projector's screen
becomes a brick wall
showing edges bumps
and texture yet remains

flat
and with exactly that
the reel runs in reverse
showing a toppled tower

rising back to how it stood
a lumbered tree once again
a hard wood standing
at attention

not at ease militarily
but waiting for a
spoken stroke of
command

yes ma'am
yes ma'am
no ma'am
turning my

head and
coughing
