A Touch of Morning Dew

At a meadows edge stands a clump of grass
Brown crusty tops sway in the scorching air
The long sultry summer has taken its toll
Signs of drought on the surface everywhere.

One touch of green lies beneath the grass
Silently waiting, sheltered from the sun
Hoping, praying for a touch of morning dew
After night has passed and the day begun.

Sometimes life appears like a drought
While waiting for a touch of morning dew
It comes quietly as a breath of fresh air
Reaffirming life as the day is new.
