A Tiny Angel, My Inspiration
She was just four years old
when diagnosed with cancer,
we were all so confused and
begged and pleaded for answers.
We knew not at first how bad it
was until one gloomy winter day,
when we heard the diagnosis and
didn’t know what to say.
Cancer filled her marrow and
pain filled her innocent soul,
she walked a path of heartache
with poison eating her whole.
She’ll never get to see the beauty of
bearing a child of her own,
but the one great thing is that
she didn’t die alone.
She fought like a trooper full of strength;
a little courageous hero,
held onto ever single breath until
her breaths went to zero.
So innocent and sweet with a heart
of gold to remember,
but I’ll never forget that chilly fall
day in late September.
We sat around her bed holding hands
and knew it was time,
for her to say goodbye…
she was so weak but wrote us a rhyme-
She said, “please don’t worry about
me when I am gone,
my soul will be in heaven where
tiny angels belong.”
I felt the inspiration as I watched
her close her dreary eyes,
it’s been over five long years,
man how time flies.
The beauty of a loss lies in the
remarkable moment of peace,
her compassion and love for life every
day always increased.
She is definitely someone younger
who gave me inspiration,
for I am grateful for the way God made
such a beautiful creation,
She’ll always fly high in my dreams and
in my soul I shall keep,
as I say my prayers to her softly,
when I lay my head to sleep.
