A Time To Smile
A Time to Smile
Laughter never had a place
When growing up was hard to do,
So happiness came quietly
In places no one ever knew.
A smile inside where non could see
Or understand so sad a face
That people saw as thoughtfulness,
But me? a bright and sacred place.
Childhood memories filled with sun,
The walks alone through aged trees
Where spectral light kissed untrod paths
With only one to praise or please.
Life moves on while here I sit
And think of things that used to be
Aware that still my mind is full
Of joy still only shared be me.
If life should end how could I share
This secret that I've hid so well
For who is there to lend an ear
To stories that I now would tell?
