You've been burned before
Far, far too many times
All you want is to be loved
For yourself and your kindness

Your eyes, they show sadness
They could tell a thousand stories
Of love and loss and heartache
Of adventures and loneliness 

Do you think you could
Tell me a story?

Share your soul?
Do you think you could
Know I'm worthy?
Do you think you could
Lose control?

Come, come now
I see your sorrow

I see your pain

There will be tomorrow

You don't love in vain

So much is unknown
And, so much is our choice
Destiny and Fate laugh at us
While we deliberate with voices

Here I offer you my hand
My friendship is free and clear
I know you've been burned before
But I can feel it all and understand
