A Tender Soul
A tender soul, barely seven,
trying to figure out the distance between earth and heaven,
trying to find a way to fly,
to touch the stars way up high.
The heart of her curiosity
beats stronger than the heart of palmistry;
She's trying to count the drops of water in a glass
like it is something taught in class.
The heart of her persistence
predates the dawn of human existence;
Trying to find a way to bring back the sands of time
to fix the things that did not rhyme.
Love her or be perplexed by her,
but she is a sweet lover;
She tries to count how many times she could say she loves you in a minute,
while feeling the rhythm of her heartbeat.
