A Temporary Madness
It's a temporary madness
A blinding, crippled stare
Waiting to hold us captive
To all of us who dare
It has no rhyme or reason
It doesn't care who we are
It's painful without purpose
And always leaves a scar
We never learn our lesson
We fall into its snare
No matter where we go in life
It's waiting for us there
It's stronger than addiction
We'll always need our fix
To some, it's just a game they play
It's how they get their kicks
It's the oldest form of emotion
That's known to modern man
No one has escaped it
And no one ever can
This thing I've been describing
Is a gift from God above
It's known to all, as just one word
This thing that we call "Love"
