Powerful stuff, Jan! Haiku and Senyru are my main "go-to" forms, but missed my chance with this one. Congratulations on your First Place win! Regards, John.

I liked this Jan. Russell is doing better, but his therapy today was rough on him. He can barely sit up and they have him doing leg exercises! He has to be doing better soon as he is going to a nursing home in the near future to have rehab...though it will be a slow rehab I hope. Poor Russell cried today he was in such pain. And the food here is awful, we both had their whatever sandwiches, and they were awful. Will have to bring some homemade food for him tomorrow. Oh, Russell wanted to write..

Thanks Emma and Russell. I am sorry to hear Russell is still in such pain its a shame they can't deal with that but it is wonderful to know he is making progress and will be in rehab soon and hopefully the food will be better!:-) my best wishes to you both. I know from having my hubby in surgery in 2013 that you too need support Emma - the patient gets the care from the staff but the relatives have such stress too. :-) hugs Jan xx

He said, "Jan your words strike a chord in me. I have had feelings like this before when my grandmother died, we were very close. I closed off from the world for a little while, all except my wife. I can't separate myself from her, ever. But this poem reminded me of that experience. This is such a special poem, a very well thought out piece, great work."
