A Square of Sand

Within a square of sand they play
little concept of space... of time
glowing so very naturally
they're completely color blind-

Within a square of sand, they create
friendship and love grain by grain
giggles spilling from innocent smiles
to the consciousness of infinity-

Outside the square of sand
two blue giants stiffly stand
cast-iron arms-cloaking rancid hearts
tossing crisp formality grain by grain
impaled by the hue of a different race-

Too soon, the rancid giants
gather up their young
scattering grains of friendship
so tenderly stacked
within that magic square of sand
within their square of sand-
