A Spiritual Cleansing

I looked out my window today

And I noticed that most of 
the clouds in the sky were grey

So I knew that the rain 
wasn’t to far away

And it’s usually on days 
like today  

That always seem to get to me

So I did something 

That I have never done before

And it was something that 
I did think about for awhile

And I finally decided 
to do it anyway

And when the rain started 
falling down from the sky

I took all my clothes off 

And I grabbed a bar of soap 

And some shampoo and a towel

And I went outside my back door
far away from prying eyes

So that no one could see me

And I took a shower in the rain

And it was such an incredible feeling

And one that I have never felt before

Because a peaceful easy feeling 
came over me
while I was showering in the rain

That was so rejuvenating

Because it felt like 

A spiritual cleansing

And when I finally came 
in from the pouring rain

All of my burdens and all of my sorrows 
that I had felt earlier in the day 
just seemed to fade away instantaneously

Carolyn Devonshire September 25, 2009 at 6:32 AM Dean, I used to take showers outside in the rain when I spent weekends on my boat, even though it had a shower. There is nothing like the feel of pure rainwater running down your back. Indeed, it is "so rejuvenating." Thank you for sharing this uplifting write that brought back pleasant memories for me.
