A Special Psalm

A SPECIAL PSALM

Psalms through the years have been precious to me,
Like Psalm 100 or Psalm 23,
The Psalm on the Bible, number 119,
Psalm 1 tells the Christian how to be “evergreen.”
But the one that’s been special for the years quite a few
Has been in Psalm 40 and verse number two.
For I look at my life and where I have been—
The horrible pit of sin I was in,
The fact that I knew right, but still I did stray
And I ended up in the miry clay.
Yet Jesus still loved me and reached out His hand
And lifted me up from that sinking sand.
He then set my feet upon a new ground—
The rock of salvation that in Him I found.
Now when I’m discouraged and shadowed by doubt,
I remember that verse and how He lifted me out.
Then I know there is hope for a man such as I;
It brings peace to my heart, with the tears I will cry.
Yes, Psalm 40 verse two is my life verse today,
So special to me in so many ways.
